The project will deliver two main final products: software for the self-calibration of HS-WIM systems and a document containing calibration and self-calibration procedures for HS-WIM stations.

The software will be targeted at HS-WIM system providers, ensuring higher quality measurement data and improved competitiveness in the market. The documentation, intended for road administration (GDDKiA), the General Inspectorate of Road Transport (GITD), and the Central Office of Measures (GUM), will allow for more efficient verification of system accuracy and better interpretation of measurements. By introducing new elements into the guidelines, it will be possible to continuously monitor the data sent by companies maintaining the stations, enabling the rapid identification of factors causing errors in axle load readings. The documentation will also simplify some calibration procedures, allowing for real-time data verification within the same budget, instead of conducting it once a year as it is currently done.

The project aims to increase measurement accuracy and improve procedures, which will contribute to reducing the number of overloaded vehicles, extending the lifespan of road pavements, and improving road safety. The implementation of the project’s results will enhance the competitiveness of transport companies and reduce road infrastructure maintenance costs.
