Examples of projects carried out at our Department

The technical monitoring system of the suspended bridge over Wisłok river in Rzeszów

To implement the technical monitoring of the bridge over Wisłok river in Rzeszów, an innovative measurement system equipped with a numerical simulation module was used. Its task is to perform real-time structure calculations in the FEM environment based on the data from the measurement points.

Trial loading of bridge structures along railway line 226 in Gdańsk

Tests during the trial loading of bridge structures located on the 226 line to the port in Gdańsk required applications of original calculation methods and methods of measuring parameters that identify the behavior of the structure.

Ultraconic diagnostics of viaduct in Nowy Dwór Gdański

Diagnostic measurements assessing the technical condition of reinforced concrete crossbeams were made. The method uses the phenomenon of propagating waves induced by an impact and registered by one or two accelerometers. As a result of the research defect areas were identified.

GPR diagnostics of a masonry tower in the St. Mary’s Church (Gdańsk, Poland)

Diagnostic measurements of brick walls of the tower were made. A georadar with a 2 GHz antenna was used for measurements. A non-invasive assessment of the reinforced concrete strengthening system of the tower was made. A result of the work was a method to determine the boundary between media, one of which contains inclusion, especially in building objects, applicable in non-invasive diagnostics, especially of historic buildings, protected by patent application P.414148 (25/09/2015).

Measurements of accelerations, strains and temperature of a silo in Łęczyca

The temperature and deformation were recorded on the pillars and the silo shell, whereas the vibrations were recorded on the silo cone. The measurements were carried out in the monitoring mode during filling and emptying the silo.

Monitoring of strength development of concrete for extradosed bridge

The system of concrete hardening is based on maturity method for estimating the concrete strength during the hydration process. It provides information about actual concrete temperature and occurring gradients. The aim of the research is the estimation in-place strength during construction process.

Monitoring of concrete curing was implemented on the largest extradosed bridge in Europe (2x132,5+2x206,0=677,0m). The superstructure is made of prestressed concrete C 60/75.

As a result, guidelines for concrete curing were formulated and possible dates of beginning the prestressing construction process were determined. Knowledge of the real concrete strength leads to time reduction of construction phase and optimilization work schedule.
