Department of Railway Engineering and Bridges was set up in 2014, linking Department of Railway Engineering and Bridges Team, which in years 2006-2014 was a part of Department of Structural Mechanics and Bridges.
The present Head of the Department is dr hab. inż. Krzysztof Żółtowski, prof. nadzw. PG.
With the foundation of Department of Railway Engineering and Bridges, the official status was awarded to Laboratory of Field Research (LBT), which has existed since the 1950s at former Department of Bridges. Laboratory of Field Research supports scientific research of both teams: Bridges Team and Railway Engineering Team.
