Department of Highway and Transportation Engineering is one of the oldest Departments of Gdansk University of Technology. Department of Highway and Transportation Engineering was founded in 1945, as a Department of Road Construction and Earthworks on the Faculty of Civil Engineering.
The Department comprises of three scientific groups:
- Road Construction Division – leaded by dr hab. inż. Piotr Jaskuła, prof. PG
- Traffic Engineering Division – leaded by dr inż. Wojciech Kustra
- Rail Transportation Division – leaded by dr hab. inż. Piotr Chrostowski, prof. PG
Road Construction Scientific Group conducts research projects in the field of construction of roads, highways and airports. Traffic Engineering Scientific Group conducts research projects in the field of transportation, traffic and road safety. Rail Transportation Scientific Group conducts research related to the design of transport processes, taking into account the issues of rail traffic engineering and the design, construction and maintenance of rail transport infrastructure.
