Environmental Laboratory of Water and Wastewater Biotechnology
Within the framework of the Cathedral of Water and Wastewater Technologies there is the Environmental Laboratory of Water and Wastewater Biotechnology, which consists of four modern science and didactic laboratories: analytical laboratory, instrumentation laboratory, microbiological laboratory and technological laboratory.
Laboratory Supervisor: Krzysztof Czerwionka, PhD. DSc. Eng., Assoc. Prof.
Assistants:
-
Ewa Kamińska
-
Krystyna Mierzejewska, Eng.
-
Monika Skucha, MSc. Eng.
-
Katarzyna Tarasewicz, MSc.
Workers conduct physico-chemical and microbiological tests of water, sewage, soil and sediments as well as technological research on water treatment, sewage treatment and sludge management. Including:
-
physico-chemical and microbiological tests of waters, soil, wastewater, sewage sludge
-
hydrophytic treatment plants - treatment of domestic sewage and sewage sludge disposal in non-urbanized areas; protection of small streams against infiltration
-
urban and industrial wastewater treatment plants - technological concepts of modernization and improvement of efficiency, opinions, start-up projects
-
sewage sludge - management and disposal
-
projects for the rehabilitation of degraded areas (technical and agricultural)
-
landfill of municipal and industrial waste - technological concepts of construction and operation
The laboratories are equipped with modern research equipment and laboratory equipment (among others: Malven Instruments Ltd 2000, UV VIS Analyzer Jena SPECORD 200, AAS VARIO 6 atomic spectrophotometer, Hach-Lange spectrophotometers for reading cuvette tests, HT2009 mineralizators and BUCHI Digest Automatic K-438, oxygen measurement device for water and wastewater samples by Oxi Top, BD Phoenix automated microbiological testing system, epifluorescence microscope computer image analysis system and NIKON DS-5Mc-U2 digital color camera, electrophoresis kit in a gel with gradient denaturing reader, low temperature freezer).
