On June 30th – July 1st 2022, the INPORR project research team representatives (prof. Jacek Mąkinia, PhD Dominika Sobotka and MSc. Bogna Śniatała) took part in the MonGOS (Monitoring of water and sewage management in the context of the implementation of the circular economy assumptions) International Conference on Water and Sewage in the Circular Economy Model, organized in Cracow, Poland. At the conference, the INPORR project has been introduced in MSc. Bogna Śniatała presentation entitled “Sustainable macronutrient recovery options from the municipal wastewater”. MonGOS is a project realised in 2020-2022 thanks to support the Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange (NAWA) under the International Academic Partnerships Programme. Its main goal is to develop the circular economy (CE) monitoring framework for the European water and sewage sector.
On October 26th – 27th 2022, the INPORR project research team took part in 11th IWA International Symposium on Waste Management Problems in Agro‑Industry, organized in Gdansk, Poland. At the conference, the preliminary results of the basic research on the nitrogen recovery in via gas permeable membranes were presented in the form of poster. The AGRO 2022 Symposium themes comprised innovative water and waste management systems, nutrient removal and recovery, sustainable bioenergy production, new trends in resource recovery, circular bioeconomy, and others. The conference gave the opportunity to exchange knowledge and ideas with scientists and practitioners from all over the world.
On December 7th 2022, we took part in 3rd International Conference on Strategies toward Green Deal Implementation Water, Raw Materials & Energy (IC Green Deal 2022) organized by the Division of Biogenic Raw Materials at the Mineral and Energy Economy Research Institute, Polish Academy of Sciences. During the Wastewater & Sewage sludge session, MSc. Bogna Śniatała presenteded the “Intensified nitrogen recovery from anaerobic digester liquors through the use of gas permeable membranes”. The initial results of preliminary tests on the impact of acid flux, operating pH, and effective membrane surface on the N recovery efficiency were demonstrated. The presentation was awarded by the conference organizers.
On January 17th-18th 2023, 2nd Europe Summit on Organic Fertilisers (SOFIE) took place in Brussels. The event has been co-organised by ESPP, ECOFI, Eurofema and Fertilizers Europe, with support of the International Fertiliser Society. 2nd SOFIE focused on how organic and organo-mineral fertiliser products and technologies deliver specific agronomic performance characteristics for farmers’ needs. During the even, our team represented by Bogna Śniatała, exhibited a poster on “Technologies for N and P recovery from wastewater vs. market readiness for the product reuse”. It provided a unique opportunity to meet fertilizer providers, technology suppliers, and regulatory experts and discuss the commercialization barriers, knowledge gaps and future science direction toward wider upscaling of nutrient recovery in the form of wastewater-derived fertilizers.
