Students in Port Czystej Energii Waste Thermal Treatment Plant
Students of Environmental Engineering course at Civil and Environmental Engineering Faculty had the opportunity to observe the construction process of the Municipal Waste Thermal Treatment Plant in Gdańsk commonly known as the incineration plant. It is a modern installation enabling thermal processing and the production of electricity and heat from residual fraction of municipal waste. In other words, the fuel used is in this plant is waste, residue of the sorting process, which cannot be recycled and landfilled, according to the current legislation related to waste management. The installation in Gdańsk will process 160,000 tonnes of waste from Gdańsk and 34 nearby Pomeranian communes. In Poland, such installations are operated, among others, in in Białystok, Bydgoszcz, Konin, Kraków, Poznań, Rzeszów and Szczecin.
