Two million euros for projects with African and Asian universities

The Department of Transport Engineering of the Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering has received almost two million euros in funding for the implementation of two international teaching projects SQUARES and AFROTRANS with universities in Asia and Sub-Saharan Africa.

The Department of Transport Engineering of the Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering has started the implementation of two international didactic projects – SQUARES and AFROTRANS.

The SQUARES consortium includes universities from Pakistan, Nepal, Bhutan and Bangladesh, as well as Italy and Estonia. It aims to develop an integrated curriculum and teaching materials in the areas of m.in: energy-efficient construction and sustainable transport management, as well as conducting an audit of the management system at selected foreign universities.

The AFROTRANS project is being implemented in a consortium of universities from the Democratic Republic of Congo and Cameroon, as well as Austria and Germany. Its aim is to develop an accredited curriculum and teaching materials for the Master's degree program in Transport Systems Management. The Department of Transport Engineering has extensive experience in coordinating and implementing international didactic projects. To date, the ERASMUS+ Capacity Building in Higher Education programme has successfully completed projects in Syria, Jordan, Lebanon, Egypt and Uzbekistan. 

The progress of work in both projects as well as reports from trainings and project meetings from Pakistan, Nepal, Bhutan, Bangladesh, the Democratic Republic of Congo and Cameroon will be reported on an ongoing basis in the social media of the WILiŚ.
