Paweł Wityk, Faculty of Chemistry from Gdańsk University of Technology (GdańskTech) visits Shenzhen International Graduate School (SIGS) of Tsinghua University, ranked 12th by THE and 25th by QS World University Rankings

On February 26 The GdańskTech representatives:

  • PhD., DSc., Eng. Aneta Łuczkiewicz, Assoc. Prof., Vice-Dean for Cooperation and Promotion at the Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering
  • PhD., Eng. Paweł Wityk, Faculty of Chemistry

were hosted at SIGS of Tsinghua University by:

  • Prof. Zuo Jiane, Vice Dean of Institute of Environmental and  Ecology
  • Ma Jeremy , Director of the Global Affairs Office
  • Prof. Wu Qianyuan, Institute of Environment and Ecology

Professor Zuo Jian'e, in his welcoming remarks, stated that as the only off-site institution of Tsinghua University in China, Shenzhen International Graduate School has achieved high-level international cooperation, talent training, and innovative practices to build a world-class graduate school. He expressed hope for future cooperation with GdańskTech.

In her speech, Professor Małgorzata Szczerska expressed gratitude to the organizers of the meeting and shared her observations and impressions of Shenzhen as an eco-friendly city. She expressed appreciation and hoped for future cooperation between the two universities in academic and educational aspects.

Next, Wu Qianyuan introduced the Shenzhen International Graduate School, focusing on the development status of the Institute of Environment and Ecology and its achievements in the field of education, scientific research, and social services.

Professor Aneta Łuczkiewicz presented the history of Gdańsk University of Technology, study program and research fields particularly focusing on Civil and Environmental Engineering academic and innovative achievements,.

Participants from both sides reached a consensus on the intention to carry out exchanges and cooperation, and conducted in-depth discussions on the international education cooperation model. The meeting strengthened mutual understanding between the two parties and provided strong support for the establishment of cooperation in talent training and scientific research. The GdańskTech delegates also participated in the seminar - The 115th Environmental and Ecological Academic Salon. The topics included "Improving Local Infectious Disease Surveillance through Wastewater Monitoring with Fiber Optic Sensors" and " Implementing a One Health Perspective in Environmental Engineering" and “Photonic sensors - Combined Approach using LC-MS Metabolomics and Proteomics” After the presentations, exchanges and discussions were held with teachers and students on-site.
