Young engineers visited the Gdańsk Lech Wałęsa Airport | Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the Gdańsk University of Technology

The organizer of the educational event was the Department of Transport Engineering, and the participants were students of engineering studies, majoring in Transport, who learned about the organization and security systems related to the operation of an airport as part of the course Basics of Air Transport Systems. In this edition, Vice-Dean Rafał Ossowski was also a participant of the trip. The principles of work of the Airport Fire Brigade were presented, which differ significantly from typical firefighting tasks. For example, the time it takes for a fire truck to reach a plane that has crashed is a maximum of 3 minutes! Students became familiar with the principles of work of various airport services and procedures for the daily operation of aircraft at the airport. Then, the tour participants visited the main terminal and learned about the safety rules of air operations. The opportunity to learn the secrets of operation and visit parts of the airport that are not accessible on a daily basis allowed us to expand our knowledge about air transport systems.
