3 scientists become members of the International Commission on Illumination

Katarzyna Bobkowska, PhD, Eng., Paweł Burdziakowski, PhD, Eng., from the Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering and Karolina Zielińska-Dąbkowska, PhD, Eng., Arch., from the Faculty of Architecture, active in the Illume research group within the EkoTech Center, were appointed to be members of the Technical Committee of the International Commission on Illumination - TC 2-95: Measurement of Obtrusive Light and Sky Glow.

CIE (International Commission on Illumination) is an international non-governmental organization dedicated to cooperation and exchange of information in matters related to color, perception, photobiology and technology of natural and artificial light. Members of this organization are National Committees from 40 countries and more than fifteen individual members from countries or regions where no national committees have been formed.

Didactic Fridays - summary of the training cycle for academic teachers

Eight months of meetings, 275 participants, 34 topics, 58 hours of methodological training, 32 hours of workshops and 12 hours of training on the use of the e-learning platform - on Friday, 18 June, in the Hydromechanics building, the final of the first edition of the training program for Gdańsk University of Technology teachers "Didactic Fridays" took place, conducted by the Center for Modern Education at Gdańsk Tech.

– I would like to congratulate all training participants who took the first step towards making the didactics better and more interesting. You are the foundation of this university. In order to obtain a sufficient number of good doctoral students, the university needs good masters, and for the masters to be good, we need the foundations provided by teachers, i.e. the best possible quality classes and people who want to conduct them – emphasized prof. Krzysztof Wilde, rector of Gdańsk University of Technology, opening the official part of the meeting.

Over one million for increasing the knowledge and technology transfer in the Palladium program

Eight projects in the area of increasing the knowledge and technology transfer, dedicated to the development of new or increasing the attractiveness of the existing research services provided by Gdańsk University of Technology received funding under the Palladium Supporting New R&D Services program for a total value of over PLN 1 million.  

11 applications were submitted for the completed call for proposals, of which the following projects received funding:

1. Increasing the research capacity of the Car Tires Testing Laboratory

Project leader: prof. Jerzy Ejsmont, PhD, DSc, Eng. FME&ST - co-financing: PLN 150,000

2. Research station for measuring the amount of hydrogen in engineering materials

Project leader: prof. Jerzy Łabanowski, PhD, DSc, Eng. FME&ST - co-financing: PLN 150,000

Prestigious FPS scholarships for researchers from Gdańsk Tech

FPS scholarships
Beata Zima, PhD, Eng. from the Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering, Paulina Parcheta-Szwindowska, PhD, Eng. from the Faculty of Chemistry and PhD student, MSc. Karolina Górnicka from the Faculty of Applied Physics and Mathematics are among the prestigious winners of the START scholarship program of the Foundation for the Development of Polish Science.

Beata Zima, PhD, Eng. is an assistant professor at the Department of Structural Mechanics (FC&EE). Her greatest achievements so far include the development of a number of algorithms for detecting, locating and estimating the size of damage in elements of engineering structures.

Cooperation with German Jordanian University

Cooperation with German Jordanian University
Gdańsk University of Technology has signed a cooperation agreement with German Jordanian University. As part of the agreement, the universities declared cooperation in the field of educating students and conducting joint research programs. The initiator of signing the agreement is the Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering.  

German Jordanian University was founded in 2005. The university has a good reputation, especially in areas such as engineering, business. More information about the university can be found at: http://www.gju.edu.jo/  

Double degree program with the University of Palermo

We would like to inform you that the recruitment process for the Master's double degree program with the University of Palermo (Italy) for students in Environmental Engineering has started.

The agreement gives an opportunity to receive Master’s double degree in the field of Environmental Engineering for students of both universities. Students enrolled in Double Degree programme will have a chance to spend the entire winter semester 2021/2022 abroad (it is possible to obtain funding from the Erasmus + program). They will study exactly the same subjects that they would study at the home university or their extended equivalents. All courses will be provided in English.

Gdańsk Tech once again classified in Round University Rankings

In the latest Round University Rankings, Gdańsk University of Technology has been classified among six Polish universities.  

The Round University Ranking (RUR) is a global university ranking that measures the performance of the world's leading universities according to 20 indicators in 4 key areas: teaching, research, international diversity and financial stability. The ranking is published by the RUR Ranking Agency based in Moscow, Russia.

Construction logbook

The authorities of Gdańsk University of Technology have made another big step towards the construction of the GUT Eco-innovation Center, which will be one of the most important units in Poland dealing with the development of environmentally friendly solutions and environmental technologies.

At the end of the year, GUT announced a tender for the construction and equipment of the Eco-innovation Center (CEI), as part of the project ‘Construction of the Eco-innovation Center of Gdańsk University of Technology in Gdańsk’. The facility will be built on the site of the former hydro hall, which is currently being demolished.
