New solutions in construction diagnostics

Beata Zimna
How to diagnose in a non-invasive, quick and cheap way engineering structures that undergo degradation due to external conditions or failures resulting from random events? PhD, Eng. Beata Zima from the Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering has developed algorithms that allow for effective identification of damage in objects made of various materials. These methods can be used not only in construction, but for example for diagnostics of machine elements, ships, railway connections, welds and in biomechanics.

A series of algorithms for detecting, locating and estimating the size of damage in elements of engineering structures, developed by PhD, Eng. Beata Zima from the Department of Structural Mechanics, FCEE, enables effective detection of particularly dangerous subsurface damage (which may lead to secondary damage, e.g.
