Race to Zero – Gdańsk Tech’s actions for climate

Gdańsk University of Technology has published a plan of actions it is taking and is going to take as part of the Race to Zero campaign. The initiative, launched in 2020 by the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, focuses on striving to achieve zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050.

The goal of the global initiative, the Race to Zero campaign, is to unite business leaders, cities, regions, investors and educational and research institutions in striving to achieve zero net greenhouse gas emissions by 2050 at the latest.

Complementary enrolment to Doctoral School at Gdańsk Tech starts on 5th September

Candidates for complementary enrolment to the Doctoral School at Gdańsk University of Technology – conducted jointly with two institutes of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Gdańsk - the Institute of Fluid-Flow Machinery and the Institute of Hydro-Engineering – will be able to choose from among 5 disciplines. Complementary enrolment within standard admissions starts on 5th September.

Acceptance of applications to the Doctoral School in the eRecruitment system will last from until 10th September (Tuesday) at 11.00 A.M. All documents required for the admission process should be attached to your application in the form of scans.

Gdańsk Tech researchers to develop an innovative technology to remove “forever chemicals” from water and wastewater

Research team from Gdańsk University of Technology takes part in the international LIMIT project, which aims to develop innovative technology for removing micropollutants from water and wastewater, including toxic and highly persistent “forever chemicals”. The developed solutions are expected to have a minimal carbon footprint and contribute to the protection of water resources, including the Baltic Sea.

Within the scope of the LIMIT project titled "Innovative concepts for sustainable water treatment targeting PFAS and other critical micropollutants from point sources in the South Baltic Sea area and other key micropollutants from point sources as an important aspect of sustainable development of water and wastewater management in the South Baltic area", the researchers will develop innovative technologies for treatment of micropollutants in water and wastewater.

The "Perspektywy" Foundation has published an annual ranking of the best universities in Poland. Gdańsk University of Technology advanced in the classification of all universities, ranking one step higher than last year - in 5th place. In turn, in the ranking of technical universities, Gdańsk Tech again took a high 3rd place.

The very good past year allowed our university to advance and thus be among the five best universities in Poland. This is a great success, as is maintaining the 3rd place in the category of technical universities.

Ministry of Science and Higher Education scholarships for outstanding young scientists

Aleksandra Kuryłowicz-Cudowska, PhD, Eng., and Krzysztof Pyrchla, M.Sc., Eng., were among the scholarship holders of the Minister of Science.  

Aleksandra Kuryłowicz-Cudowska, PhD, Eng., Civil Engineering, Geodesy and Transport, Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering. He is an assistant professor at the Department of Strength of Materials at the Faculty of Environmental and Environmental Engineering.

The best Faculty of Environmental Engineering in Poland

The "Perspektywy" Foundation has published an annual ranking of the best universities in Poland. Gdańsk University of Technology advanced in the classification of all universities, ranking one step higher than last year - in 5th place. In turn, in the ranking of technical universities, GUT again took a high 3rd place. The ranking honored the fields of study conducted at the Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering, where Environmental Engineering turned out to be the best environmental engineering in the country, Construction took second place, Geodesy and cartography is third in its category, Transport was among the top ten best transports. in Poland and the inter-departmental field of Energy took 3rd place.

The very good past year allowed our university to advance and thus be among the five best universities in Poland. This is a great success, as is maintaining the 3rd place in the category of technical universities. – I am very happy that in the year in which we celebrate the 120th anniversary of the establishment of the university, we will advance in the national ranking of universities.

Gdańsk University of Technology ranks second in Poland

THE IMPACT LABEL
Gdańsk University of Technology was ranked 401-600 in the world and second in Poland in the prestigious international ranking assessing the university's involvement in the implementation of the UN Sustainable Development Goals - The Impact Rankings.

THE Impact Rankings are an overall ranking and detailed rankings taking into account the 17 Sustainable Development Goals. This year's ranking is the sixth in a row, and the interest in the ranking is greater every year - 467 scientists took part in the first edition, and as many as 1,963 in the current one.

Dutch students from RUAS at the Gdańsk University of Technology

We were thrilled to welcome a group of second-year Dutch students from RUAS – Rotterdam University of Applied Sciences to Gdańsk

Under the guidance of three dedicated teachers, Charlotte Schmidt, Anoushik Sayyad-Hartounian, and Mariska Heijs from the Water Management program (hr.nl/wam), the students embarked on an enriching journey from Monday, April 22nd to Friday, April 27th.

27th IAHR International Symposium on Ice

From June 9-13, 2024, the 27th International Symposium on Ice, organized under the auspices of IAHR, will take place at the Gdańsk University of Technology.
This prestigious event has attracted leading experts as well as numerous students and engineers who specialize in ice and its impact on various fields such as river hydraulics, hydraulic engineering, navigation, wind energy, and climate change in polar regions.
 
The symposium program will feature numerous scientific presentations, lectures, and poster sessions, providing participants with opportunities to exchange knowledge and experiences.
