February 9. International winter cycling day. Stay safe on the road

Bicycle on a road
International Winter Bike To Work Day, which is celebrated on the second Friday in February and takes place on February 9 this year, is a globally celebrated holiday for commuting on bicycles. The day has been set aside to encourage citizens from around the world to consider biking to work as opposed to the common alternative of driving.

Supporters of two wheels repeat: there is no bad weather for cycling - there are only poorly dressed cyclists. In winter, it is important that we are visible on the road, especially when leaving for work early in the morning and returning home after dusk. Not only warm clothing is necessary for the comfort of traveling on a two-wheeler, but also clothing that has reflective elements and will be visible to other road users.

This is how we should describe the cooperation between the Consortium of the Gdansk University of Technology and the Wrocław University of Science and Technology. This unique city-to-city(Gdansk & Wroclaw)research project with the acronym InfraNoise is carried out under the title " A system for precise monitoring of the impact of railway traffic on the environment, including information on traffic, technical and environmental data. The competition was launched as part of the BRIK II cooperation. It involves supporting scientific research and development work in the area of railway infrastructure: "Research and Development in Railway Infrastructure". The whole thing is supervised by the National Center for Research and Development (NCBR) and PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe S.A. (PKP PLK S.A.).

The InfraNoise project concerns an extremely important problem related to the protection of the environment, as well as urban areas occurring in the immediate vicinity of the railway infrastructure, noise and vibration. As part of this project, the consortium is developing an innovative measurement and analytical system for monitoring a number of traffic, technical and environmental parameters important from the point of view of railway infrastructure management.
